Altemus is pleased to announce a Call for Applications for Leading From Within 2019. This foundational training offers young people a unique opportunity to take time out and reflect on their lives – who they are, what they want to do, where they want to go and how to get there.

Description

Participants will, with the guidance of professional trainers, facilitators and coaches:
• Deepen their self-awareness
• Define their dream/ vision
• Set short and long-term goals
• Draft a personal action plan
• Learn how to manage stress and live a healthy lifestyle

Leading From Within is a 7-day residential training, that is intensive, interdisciplinary and highly participatory. Its methodology includes presentations, psychometric tests, journaling, reflection periods, group work, art activities, case studies, role-playing and outdoor experiential learning. After the residential portion participants are encouraged to take this golden opportunity to process what they have learned while walking the famous Camino de Santiago.

Eligibility

To be eligible for Leading From Within, you must:

1. a) Be a citizen/ permanent resident of a developing country and hold a valid visa for the EU;
b) Be a citizen/ permanent resident of a member state of the European Union;
c) A national of Argentina, Brazil, Croatia, Holy See (Vatican), Georgia, Japan, Malta, Republic of North Macedonia, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, South Korea, and Ukraine; or,
d) A citizen of Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, Albania, Armenia, or India.

2. Be 20-30 years old.

3. Be proficient in English.

4. Be in good health (physical and mental). For those who chose to go on the Camino, be capable of walking 5-8 hours/day on flat or hilly terrain with an 8 kg backpack.

Who Would Benefit From The Training

Young people who:
1. Wish to grow as a person or a leader
2. Hold leadership positions
3. Are in a period of transition (e.g. between degrees or jobs)
4. Need to take an important decision in the near future (personal or professional)

Selection Criteria

Admission to the training is on a competitive basis. Applicants are assessed on their essays, interview, professionalism and integrity. Preference will be given to young pe-ople with fewer opportunities.

Location and Accomodation

Retreat centre near Praia Grande, Portugal (1 hour from Lisbon, near Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site).

Programme: August 16-22, 2019

Fees

500€/person for citizens of the EU and 350 €/person for students from developing countries. This price is based on double occupancy, covers all meals (full pension), sheets and towels, WIFI, educational materials, Altemus T-shirt, day pack, a Camino passport, a cultural excursion and an outdoor experiential activity.

Participants are responsible for covering their own travel costs, medical & travel insurance (obligatory) and all expenses related to the Camino walk. Please note hostels and food along the Camino vary, but on average costs 15-20 €/day.

Payment

Selected participants are required to pay a nonrefundable deposit of 150€ by May 1, 2019, to secure their spot in the training, and the balance of the fee by June 1, 2019.
