Youth Work Supports Mental Well-being

In today’s world, we need to pay attention to young people’s mental health and find solutions for it together. Join our training, if you want to play an important role in promoting mental health of young people!

In the training you will increase your knowledge and the understanding of:

  • mental health as a positive resource and skill that we can teach, learn, support, and strengthen
  • tools to promote mental health of young people
  • how to raise a concern with a young person, how to support them and to find help if necessary
  • how you as a youth worker can have an important role in the promotion of mental health
  • how to plan and develop your youth organisation to support the mental well-being of young people

We will share ideas and find solutions in strengthening the positive mental health and increase the understanding and skills of professionals to support mental well-being.

You will also get hints on how European Union Youth Programmes can fund the development of your skills and be used as a tool in youth work.

Our Approach is Promotive

In the training you will get inspired about your role in the promotion of mental health. You may also learn about crisis work and when to raise a concern and find help. We will not talk about how to solve mental health problems or how to give therapy to someone. On the other hand, we can learn about crisis work, about the importance of listening when issues arise and when interventions are needed.

Apply Now to Be a Better Youth Worker

The aim of the training is to provide youth workers with skills that they can use in their daily work with young people.

You can apply to be a participant in this training if you are a professional or voluntary youth worker, who is regularly working directly with young people. You have a clear function in the organisation that you work with and your organisation regularly runs activities, open houses, or projects with the local or regional young people. You must be over 18 years old.

If you do not have a relevant role in a youth organisation you do not work with groups of young people or if you are just personally interested in the topic, we will not select you as a participant.

Small steps for a better world

In our activities we support the principle of a safer space, where no one is discriminated or bullied because of their background or person. We want you to respect the same principle.

We want to support your well-being too. We offer optional sessions each morning and night, when you can join relaxing moments or you can offer a meditative or active session yourself.

We want to enable the participation of people with all kinds of abilities. Our premises are accessible, we can provide sign language interpretation or adjust methodology if needed. Knowing your individual needs will help us to provide the needed support.

We also strive to make the world a little bit greener. This is why we are primarily choosing vegetarian or otherwise sustainable diets whenever possible. We also encourage you to consider travelling to Helsinki on land as much as possible.
