Context

This is a project for young people who would like to to determine ways in order to overcome the obstacle of linguistic expression (expression through eye-contact, gestures, expressions, music, etc). Non-verbal communication is predominant. Having the game as a vehicle, we would like to discover the use of clown’s play connected with arts such as music, dance, painting, as a primary inclusive means of expressing and exploring allocentrically. Co-creation and improvisation will be the key components for the development of the activities.

Characters

We are looking for 33 motivated young people from 6 European countries ready to take the risk and play with us discovering our inner child. We believe that individual differences are a source of interest in a context of a sustainable individual and social development.

PARTICIPANTS
18-30 years old, fully participating in online preparation through FB, Youth Exchange and Follow Up activities.

GROUP LEADERS
18 years old without max limit, fully participating in online preparation through FB, Youth Exchange and Follow Up activities.

→*Feel free to bring along personal items (clothes, musical instruments, etc.) that you think will help you better express your own clown. People with digital skills are welcome in order to enhance the final presentation

Clown Cycles

The sections are divided accordingly with the life-path that a clown recycles.

  • Team Building & Program’s Concept → We build bonds of intimacy and reconcile common practices of coexistence. We approach the topic of ” art of the clown”, non-verbal communication.
  • Yes- Mode, Exploration→ We try to maintain a yes-mode / can-do attitude
  • Take Risk, Meet Failures → We face individual challenges that are difficult but not impossible to accomplish. We observe and embrace imperfections by developing mental resilience and distributing sincere feelings
  • Inside-Out → We make external adjustments by emphasizing their internal characteristics -emotions, personality. We observe the interaction of internal and external features.
  • Yes-Mode, Discover Alternative solutions → We recall childhood memories, compare common primary characteristics of this age and use them collaboratively as tools to discover alternative solutions. Also, we are called upon to recognize external social constraints and suggest tools to address them.
  • Yes-Mode, Explore → We prepare dissemination activities about non-verbal communication & emotional recognition, processing and expressing and distribute roles.
  • Take Risk, Meet Failures → Εach group design and prepare a presentation based on “Young Clown as a means of social inclusion, expression and creativity.”

Where

It is England, baby! Since the UK chose BREXIT, this is one of the last Erasmus+ opportunities. Grosvenor Hall place is 2 hours from London, set in the beautiful grounds of a former manor house. Find map of the location here.

When to Get There

Phase 1
2 – 14 February 2023

Phase 2
30 March – 11 April 2023

Days allowed to stay in the UK: This is a great time to explore the United Kingdom. We will not have much free time during the programme, thus if you want to explore the country, please arrange extra days. You are allowed to come max 7 days before the YE or leave after max 7 days after the YE, but the total amount of days that are not part of the programme is max 7 days and the price of the flights should be not higher (otherwise you have to cover the difference) than on the programme days, as reimbursement goes for programme and not tourism. If you decide to stay more than 7 days longer than the official programme, you will have to cover the travelling expenses yourself. During these extra days, you have to find your own accommodation and no other expenses are covered (we will cover just flights on different days).

Practicals – What to Bring

  • Warm thermo (merino woold for instance) clothes for outdoors (take into consideration rainy British weather) and indoors;
  • Towel, cosmetics, shampoos and Hairdryer, if needed
  • EU Passport (EU ID card is not anymore accepted after the BREXIT);
  • Medicines;
  • Insurance – this is critical! Please bring European Health Card and Insure in other ways because we do not provide and are not liable for any incidents

Weather

In Winter temperature in Grosvenor Hall ranges from 1 to 10 degrees, sunshine lasts ± 2 hours and of course of course of course (not so) beautiful rain (rains ± 13 out of 30 days) is a constant friend and a mandatory discussion subject in all conversations.

Check the weather forecast here.

If you have an illness, physical limitations and/or use the medicine we need to know about, please let us know.
