URBAN ART & CO.: The power of education through urban art
This is a seminar for artists, educators and cultural organizers involved with youth work and social issues. Discover how art can animate public spaces, design ways to use urban art in youth work, and look for strategic partnerships within EU programs.
This is a 5-day seminar for artists, educators and cultural organizers involved with youth work and social issues. During the seminar, participants will discover how art can animate public spaces, design ways to use urban art in their youth work, and look for strategic partnerships with the city and EU programs.
Today more than ever, the urban space is inhabited and lived by more and more people. Youth in particular live it as their third “practice ground” for becoming adults, aside from home and school, thus the potential and the impact it can have on them is immense. This seminar will bring youth workers, community leaders and cultural managers together with artists who have made the urban space their own canvas for bringing social issues to the foreground. Starting from their experiences and using design thinking tools, the participants will develop new methods to connect public art, active citizenship and the revitalization of public spaces.
The seminar will include:
– case studies from artists and educators, as well as from local reality
– methodology of urban art
– hands on workshops to develop new methods
– legal aspects of urban art from the municipality’s perspective
– project management for applying for Erasmus+ funds
– a space for collaborative projects and big ideas
