“Authentic Enquery” is an method for learning, which starts mainly by the interest of any learner. In this project the method is used to work with young persons in critical life-situations. Participants of the event will expereance the method in one day.

Education is one of the most important aspects in the development of modern societies. As the High Scope Perry Preschool Project study shows, education helps significant to reduce crime and violence. The European Project Re-engaging young offenders with education and learning is working on new educational perspectives by using the “Authentic Enquire” as learning method in closed security context. This learning method starts by the interest of the learner and develops a learning-journey, which hopefully might lead to a positive personal ideas of future.

Authentic Inquiry is an intervention designed to build personally relevant knowledge which is useful in education. The personally relevant topic is identified by the learner, enabling greater opportunity for connection with the learning process. This is done by taking the learners’ interest through their own narratives and stories (personal) and navigating this towards the production of an ‘artefact’ such as a piece of art, poster or other product that has some external educational value (public). In so doing, a connection between the personal and the public is developed.

On this conference we will explore, how to use the special learning method “Athentic Enquery” as a method of learning in closed settings and difficult life situations.

Though the project aims to educators in closed security settings, the method will be helpful also for all educators and social worker, dealing with young persons in difficult life situations.

There is NO possibility to pay for your travel or acommodation unfortunately in this case.
