Diversity in Europe is a fact. As living in an ever changing culture, we continue meeting new situations that are connected with inclusion, diversity, different cultures and beliefs; and in some places arising radicalisation, nationalism, xenophobias and biases.

We as Europeans can be a leading example how to truly live our common values such as tolerance, freedom of speech and inclusion to achieve cooperation and active participation of individuals in our society. Through educating our societies, especially young people, we work towards more inclusive, understanding, cooperative and prosperous society of Europe and take preventive actions towards possible incidents.

The project “Ubuntu” aims to educate and support youth workers, youth trainers and educators on how to use outdoors for social inclusion and education in their youth work.

Objectives

  • To bring together 30 youth workers, youth trainers and educators from 12 European countries
  • To acquire and improve competences for using outdoors as a method for social inclusion in youth work
  • To create minimum of 20 local activities in each partner community focused on social inclusion and non-formal learning
  • To create a project video with educational and awareness building purposes towards outdoors & social inclusion
  • To have at least two publications about the project and related topics to reach wider audience.

The Programme

Project consists of four phases:

  • Preparation
  • 8 full days Training course (TC) in Netherlands
  • Implementation of local activities in each partner country
  • 4 full days Evaluation seminar in Netherlands

The TC has three main parts:

  1. a 5-day guided training to acquire and develop necessary competences, skills and behaviours for using outdoors as a method for social inclusion
  2. challenge part by planning and delivering program to youth in the Netherlands and
  3. the evaluation of learning & planning of the local activities part.

Between TC and seminar, participants implement local activities in each partner country by using their new competences and methods acquired during TC.

In the evaluation seminar the participants both finalize their learning by creating their own individualised outdoor method and by sharing their results.

He lived and worked in the Netherlands for 3 years where he got further trained from the Olde Vechte Foundation. Panagiotis developed several E+ programs and actively worked with people coming from several less opportunities backgrounds. He developed a personal development and self-coaching training open for everyone interested in personal growth and a training for coaches, mentors and in generally people working with people that want to improve their coaching skills. Ilze Vanaga has put her life vision to bring light and love to the world. And as she loves to explore ideas, cultures, beliefs, people and connections, she truly joined PG three and half years ago. In very short time she became trainer and project coordinator in PG. She has broad experience in working with international groups, youth and non-formal education methods. After joining PG a year later she left for long-term EVS in Netherlands, where half of year she spent in many international mobility projects as a participant or team member and rest of time traveling. After Netherlands for some time she moved to Bulgaria to lead a group of volunteers and be the executive director in Synergy Bulgaria. She believes in exploration of one-self comes from exploration of world. As to travel is to create adventure and is to explore both inner
